I am a Senior Lecturer in Media and Contextual Studies, focusing on the history and theory of photography. I have a variety of research interests all centring on professional photography and its production contexts.

Biography

I’m a Senior Lecturer in Media and Contextual Studies, focusing on the history and theory of photography. I’ve a variety of research interests all centring on professional photography and its production contexts. My first degree was practice-based in photography (BFA with Distinction), but my strengths in theory and history drew me to completing a Masters (MA with Distinction) and further to a PhD.

Sharon's current research focuses upon the professional contexts of photography, looking at the environments of changing practice. She's also engaged in research that examines the nature of creativity in commissioned and commercial photography contexts.
