My interest in professional development and learning was generated by my Master’s Degree. This, together with my interest in education policy and values fuels my current professional interests.

Biography

As Professor in the School of Education I am passionate about professional learning, education policy, education and extremism and research ethics in school based research.

Teaching and research

Teaching

Hazel has taught on Ed. D and Master’s Degree programmes. She formerly taught English and Professional Studies on PGCE and BA (QTS) programmes. Her pedagogic approach is informed by Critical Theory and the work of Paulo Freire and Henry Giroux.

Research

Hazel’s research is situated at the intersection of education policy and values in relation to teaching and learning. She also researches professional learning and development.
