I teach and research in areas related to health improvement, including public policy and active transport, the role of purposeful activity in health promotion, physical activity for mental health improvement and qualitative research methods.

Biography

My interests areas focus on the design, delivery and evaluation of health promoting interventions in healthcare and in the community. I have published in the areas of exercise referral scheme evaluation, mental health promotion, arts and health and physical activity pathway intervention evaluations. I manage and lead funded research in the region, nationally and in the EU. I am also the Convenor for the University's Research Priority Area of Sport, Exercise, Health and Wellbeing. My teaching draws on applied examples to ensure students connect with contemporary evidence-based practice.
