Senior Lecturer in Social Work

Health and Social Care

Learning should be enjoyable as well as challenging - I always strive to achieve these goals in my teaching, particularly as I have such engaging subjects as law and policy, and mental health.

I have focused on the relationship between social work and law for much of my career, since qualifying in 1987 and going on to practice in adult social care and mental health. I practiced as an Approved Social Worker (now Approved Mental Health Professional) and have practice-educated both social work students and ASW trainees. I'm legally qualified and a member of the Association of Law Teachers and the Society of Legal Scholars. My specialist subjects are mental health practice and social welfare and family law.
