Sport and Exercise

I am a Senior lecturer for Sport Coaching and Sport Education. I contribute to a variety of modules as well as postgraduate Professional Practice in Sport Coaching. I am passionate about the process of coaching in developing the best performers.

Biography

My main research interests include innovative approaches to coaching and the impact of coach development on practice. I am also a keen sports person having previously competed internationally in athletics. I play netball and coach within a range of different sporting environments including primary and secondary schools, the county netball academy through my previous employment where I worked as a community sports coach and coach manager with the local county sports partnership

Teaching

I teach on a range of modules including Professional Practice in Sport Coaching, Teaching Games, Athletic Activities, Innovative Pedagogies, Introduction to Coaching Context, Community Based Sport Coaching and Fundamental Movement and Games.

Research

My latest study investigated the implementation of game based coaching pedagogy in elite performance sport which explored the process of elite coaching and the development of player autonomy in elite players.

External responsibilities

Alison is the Partnership Collaboration Lead for the sport and Exercise faculty. This requires Alison to develop validated and franchised courses with external colleges and manage and monitor these courses once they have been successfully validated.
