Sport and Exercise

Being active in various settings is a mainstay in my life and is something I value highly. I have always been interested in the ways people access activities. Whether it is looking at motivation or barriers, I have a desire to understand why.

Biography

I have an interest in a variety of activity and sport settings, focussing on access, opportunity and cultural issues. I have worked extensively on charitable projects assessing the impact of Sport for Development projects and worked on a number of commissioned research projects investigating the role of sport within at risk, criminal and volunteering environments. I deliver a range of modules over a number of courses, embedding innovative and critical practice within the sociology and culture of activities and sport. Outside of teaching I am keen on mountain biking and surfing.
