1. How much does a CRB cost?
The cost of obtaining a CRB is £44 for an enhanced check and £26 for a standard check.
2. How long does it take?
The CRB aim to process 90% of Enhanced checks in 4 weeks. If you have the application reference number you can check its progress via the CRB online Tracker Service.
3. I already have a CRB, will the university require me to obtain another one?
As the CRB no longer endorses portability of disclosures, we require that all applicants and current students obtain a CRB disclosure through the University of Gloucestershire.
4. I have a conviction; will that prevent me from being accepted onto a course or placement opportunity?
No! Criminal records will be taken into account only where the conviction is relevant to the course or placement being applied for. Please see the university’s CRB policy statement for further information.
5. I am an international student, does the university require any additional checks alongside a UK CRB?
For international students or applicants that have lived abroad, we will require ISA registration and a certificate of good conduct from every country in the last five years where the applicant has spent three or more months. In addition we will also seek appropriate references from previous employers or educational establishments.
6. How long is my CRB disclosure valid for?
CRB disclosures don’t actually have an expiry date attached to them, however it is university policy to request a fresh disclosure once the original has passed three years in date.
