Incorporating a foundation degree in person-centred healthcare practice, we have worked closely with professional bodies and employers to create a programme that provides the skills required to meet local service needs.
Through our expert teaching, your staff will learn about the coordination of care and their role in supporting it, including referrals to other practitioners and supporting patient assessment.
From day one, apprentices will be developing higher clinical skills, such as catheterisation, wound care and discharge planning. This means they will have an immediate positive impact on patient care and services.
Assistant Practitioners can be found working in a range of areas such as cancer services, physiotherapy, orthopaedics, mental health, social care and occupational therapy, as well as hybrid roles that cross a range of traditional occupational areas. As such, we work with employers to develop bespoke programmes that meet the requirements of the clinical area within which the assistant practitioner is working.
Assignments that tackle real world scenarios are a key component of this apprenticeship. Therefore your staff will be developing solutions to real challenges faced by your organisation as part of their leaning.
Apprentice job roles
All apprentices must be employed in relevant healthcare roles because they will be applying what they have learned in your workplace. As such, throughout the apprenticeship the learner must be fully employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Apprentice job roles will include a wide range of roles that have been developed to meet local service needs but include clinical support staff and assistants working in health and social care.
This is a level 5 apprenticeship, meaning that the level of study is the equivalent of that of an undergraduate. As such, some apprentices will be new to the world of work while others will be established professionals looking to develop their skills as part of their career progression.

This apprenticeship offers learners a flexible approach to study, therefore the specific arrangements would be agreed with you and your employees prior to the course start date.
The most common duration of study is two years and would typically include the equivalent of one day per week at university. There will also be an element of assessment within the workplace and we would develop a programme of mentoring in partnership with you, to help you get the best out of both the apprentice and the apprenticeship.
