What can Graduate Challenge offer me as a graduate?

We know it’s tough out there.

You’ve worked hard to gain your degree, you’re itching to get started in your chosen career, and along comes the recession.

What’s needed is an interim solution that will help you now, and stand you in good stead for the long-term.

That’s why we’ve launched Graduate Challenge.

The University of Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire First have joined forces to bring you a fresh approach to work-based learning with the new Graduate Challenge programme.

The programme offers a limited number of four-month paid work placements as a means of adding valuable experience to your CV and helping successful applicants on the way towards sustainable employment.

The Academic Element of Graduate Challenge

Postgraduate Certificate in Personal and Professional Development

The programme consists of two academic modules; one compulsory and one optional module which, if both completed, will constitute award of the full, Postgraduate Certificate in Personal and Professional Development.

  • All Graduate Challenge graduates will complete PPD407 while on placement and will receive credit for that.
PPD407 – Placement Module: Understanding the Market & Improving Employability
(Compulsory module – 30 CAT points - no fee payable)
  • Those wishing to gain the full Postgraduate Certificate must also register for PPD405 for which a concessionary fee will be charged. Availability of this module is dependant upon reaching a minimum number of participants.
    PPD405 – Work-related Module: Project Management & Developing a Skills-based Portfolio (Optional module – 30 CAT points – fee payable)

Please see the Student Handbook which outlines both academic modules.

As part of Graduate Challenge each graduate will be assigned a personal, trained mentor to offer advice and support. Please see here for more details on Graduate Support.

The academic element will be explained in detail at the Induction Day at the start of the Graduate Challenge placement.
