The Foundation Degree is a vocationally-focused higher education qualification which integrates academic and work based learning. It is intended to equip learners with the skills and knowledge relevant to their employment in the IT industry, so satisfying the needs of employees and employers. The focus is on software, communications, theory and practice in ICT.
Teaching and learning will be practical and student centred. Students will complete group and individual projects which will be set in a realistic work context and environment.
Assessment will be largely practical in nature and will include the preparation of portfolios of practical work, solutions to practical scenarios and project documentation. Some modules are assessed with on-line tests in addition to practical work.
Students will either be employed in the IT industry or wishing to join it. The timetable is arranged to have minimum impact on students who are in employment.

Students wishing to continue their studies will be able to top-up to an Honours degree at the University of Gloucestershire or another suitable institution
Full-time entry requirements
Students will normally possess one A2 Level qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent, such as a BTEC National. Mature students will be assessed on their relevant experience. All students will be admitted on their ability to benefit from study at this level and their intellectual capacity and motivation to succeed. All candidates will be interviewed prior to acceptance.
