Foundation Degree
Students study for 4 hours a week (2pm – 6pm) over 2 years at Norland College.
Year one modules include: Child Development, Early Years Principles, Policies and Practice, Working with Families, Becoming a Senior Practitioner, Reflective Practice (a work based project) and a module on their Personal Learning and Development. In year two the studies are in greater depth and focus upon: The Senior Practitioner (Roles & Responsibilities), Working with 0-3s, Studies into the 6 areas of learning & development based in the EYFS and finally an independent work based project.
These two years of study enable students to achieve the Foundation Degree.
The second year studies are of greater depth because the marks will be used if a student wishes to undertake a 3rd year in order to obtain a full honours degree.

Full-time entry requirements
- Interview at Norland College
- Applicants must be Level 3 qualified with at least 2 years experience in early years. They should be currently involved in the sector in paid or unpaid work as long as this is for the equivalent of 2 days per week
- All entrants will need a current Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) certificate
