Postgraduate Certificate/Postgraduate Diploma/MSc
Human resource management and development has the potential to create and sustain competitive advantage for organisations. As a subject area, it is concerned with how organisations approach managing, leading and developing people. This is both challenging and complex for HR specialists and managers alike.
This course is designed to enable you to assess the nature, role and contribution of the human resource function in organisations. It will equip you with the skills and abilities required to undertake a human resource role at an influential and strategic level. We will help prepare you to be a leader within the profession, building upon your existing skills and support you to apply critical, creative and reflective thinking to address complex problems and make effective decisions.
You will study with like-minded people who have a degree or other professional qualification and relevant work experience. An integral part of understanding how HRM contributes to the development and implementation of organizational strategy will come from interactions with fellow students.
Lectures, taught by research active academics with recent industry experience, take place in the evenings thereby minimising the impact on everyday work commitments.
Successful completion of the Postgraduate Diploma stage, along with a management research report, means that you will meet the knowledge requirements of the CIPD. If you successfully complete a dissertation instead of the management report you will graduate with a Masters degree. Both of these routes can be completed in two-years part-time. Alternatively for those wishing to spread the workload over three years, you can complete your dissertation after the Postgraduate Diploma.
Masters Top-up Award
This top-up award is ideal if you already hold a Graduate Membership (Postgraduate Diploma equivalent) from the CIPD or have demonstrated that you meet the knowledge requirements, as in most cases, it allows you direct entry to the Masters stage.
