LLM in International Business Law

If you’re keen to grapple with the intellectual challenge of law and discover how to put theory into practice, this course could be for you, wherever you are in the world.

The main programme is the LLM in International Business Law, but there are additional specialist named awards which allow you to reflect your own specialism, including (click to view course map):

Please note that NOT all specialist awards will run every year.

Students do not have to have a law degree to enrol on the programme and there are many non-legal careers where a law degree focused on a relevant specialist area may be a career advantage.

This includes, for example, an LLM in International Business Law (Company Law) which may be of interest to company secretaries, while an LLM in International Business Law (Trade Law) would be useful to those involved in import/export business.

What is required is that the student has a significant grounding in that particular area of law in order to come onto the programme.

"I feel this course has definitely helped me reach my true potential; it has been hard work and sometimes stressful but the experience is one I will cherish forever."

Law LLM (International Business Law)
Having completed the LLB at another university, I moved back to Gloucester to work in order to support myself financially so that I could carry on with the masters but, once I moved back, I was reluctant to move out of this area.
I followed the advice of a colleague at work, who at the time was doing a postgraduate course at the University, and looked up the courses available. I was pleasantly surprised to find a masters course for Law with a good mix of module selection and independent study time.  On visiting the Park Campus, where the Law department is situated, I was very impressed to find modern buildings and facilities with excellent technology available in the library and computer room, situated within beautiful grounds which provide a fresh and relaxing environment to study in. I instantly found the perfect blend of the environmentally-friendly yet modern look of the campus very appealing.
The customer service I received when I applied was also excellent. I was in regular contact with the Course Leader through email who replied to any queries extremely quickly. I received all the necessary information and was able to do everything online. The whole treatment made me feel very valued.
I am very pleased with the course I’m studying, although initially I had some reservations about only three hours of taught time per week but this has truly been quality time and I have found it sufficient to support the non-taught workload.
The teachers have been great, especially the Course Leader, who I find can make the most boring of subjects really interesting. All the teachers are enthusiastic about the subject they’re teaching and that encourages everyone to put in their best effort. They also clarify any pre-reading that we may not have understood very well which I find very helpful and the fact that they’re always willing to give up their personal time to help us out really makes us feel valued members of the university.
There has been a broad selection of interesting topics on offer for my course; they are not only academic but also practical. As it is a small group, we have wide discussions on topics during class time which has really been beneficial. I have especially enjoyed the modules on international trade law and company law.
I feel this course has definitely helped me reach my true potential; it has been hard work and sometimes stressful but the experience is one I will cherish forever. The course has given me a great sense of achievement and self satisfaction and has geared me up to be able to do what I’m hoping to do and that is work for an international company maybe in Pakistan or Dubai.
I would recommend this university to anyone, whether it is their first degree or continuation on to a postgraduate course as I have had a wonderful time here and am very grateful to have had this opportunity and to have met such kind and supporting tutors and staff.
