Postgraduate Certificate/Postgraduate Diploma/MSc
This course looks to further prepare graduates for working as a sport and exercise scientist with a particular focus on sport & exercise psychology. Building on a strong theoretical foundation, students on this course will look to apply their knowledge in an applied setting.
The course is available in both full-time and part-time modules of study with a distance learning option also available.
Whilst undertaking this course students have the opportunity to begin the British Association for Sport & Exercise Sciences (BASES) supervised experience process to work towards BASES accreditation as a Sport & Exercise Scientist.
The course will explore a both theoretical perspectives as well as approaches to applied practice, intervention strategies and professional qualification.
The applied practice placement will allow students to apply their skills and knowledge within either a sport or exercise context and gain a greater understanding of the challenges and demands of applying the psychology of sport & exercise in the sporting world.

- Performance Psychology (motor skills, practical techniques, pressure, cognitions, learning and perceptions)
- Social Processes (interpersonal, cohesion, leadership, group dynamics)
- Individual Differences (personality, motivation, talent identification, gender differences)
- Psychological Skills (confidence, concentration, emotions, arousal, coping, imagery, biofeedback etc)
- Applied Practice (Counselling, needs analysis, consultancy modules, professional practice, interventions)

A BASES-endorsed undergraduate degree in sport & exercise sciences or equivalent
