ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) 

AWARD: Fundamentals/Professional (part-time)

With membership of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) highly prized in the business world, these qualifications are a passport to a range of jobs in the accountancy profession. They are also an excellent foundation for a career in business and general management.

The examinations of the ACCA are organised into two levels – Fundamentals and Professional.

Fundamentals Level

There are two modules at this level.

Knowledge Module
• Paper F1 Accountant in Business
• Paper F2 Management Accounting
• Paper F3 Financial Accounting (INT)

Please note that we are not offering the knowledge modules for 2011/12.

Skills Module
• Paper F4 Corporate and Business Law
• Paper F5 Performance Management
• Paper F6 Taxation
• Paper F7 Financial Reporting (INT)
• Paper F8 Audit and Assurance (INT)
• Paper F9 Financial Management

Professional Level

There are three Essentials papers plus two option papers (from a choice of four) to be completed at this level.

Essentials
P1 Professional Accountant
P2 Corporate Reporting (INT)
P3 Business Analysis

Options
P4 Advanced Financial Management
P5 Advanced Performance Management
P6 Advanced Taxation
P7 Advanced Audit and Assurance (INT)

Entry requirements

  • The minimum entry requirements for the Knowledge Module of the qualification are two A-Levels plus three GCSEs in five separate subjects (including English and mathematics) or equivalent
  • Holders of higher qualifications (including those who are AAT qualified and those who are relevant degree holders) may attract exemptions from some of the ACCA examinations
  • Students who do not possess the minimum entry qualifications, will be allowed to register and given two years (a maximum of four consecutive attempts) to pass papers F2 and F3 of the Knowledge Module via the ACCA's mature student entry route
  • To be eligible to enter the examinations you will need to register as a student with ACCA.

Assessment

Assessment is by external examination.

Mode of attendance

  • the Skills Module requires afternoon/evening attendance. For details see the Timetable and Guidance for Skills Module
  • the Professional Level — Essentials Module requires morning/afternoon attendance. For details see the Timetable and Guidance for Professional Level — Essentials Module.
