Professionally approved by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the Certificate in Professional Studies: Intermediate Human Resource Management, supports current and aspiring HR professionals with limited experience seeking membership to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), to progress their career in Human Resources.

The Intermediate programme in Human Resource Management is a one year course which bridges the Foundation and Advanced level within the CIPD qualifications. As a practising HR professional, study one afternoon/evening a week alongside your employment and develop HR knowledge you can apply in your workplace.

Develop both academic knowledge and workplace skills through shared classroom learning, case studies and problem-based learning. Undertake your own reading and research to consolidate your formal learning. Recommended study for this course is 450 hours, of which 360 should be independent study. This programme is assessed by coursework. Typical modules include:

- Managing HR functions: Business Issues & the Contexts of Human Resources, Managing & Co-ordinating the Human Resources Function and Organisation Design.

To study on this course, you must have:
- CIPD Foundation level, or general business qualification L2, 3 or 4 with an interest in the HR area
- OR a number of years HR experience
- Non-native English speakers require an IELT score of 6.0, 5.5 written.
This is an academic programme at undergraduate level and therefore students joining with limited academic qualification need to be prepared to develop academic skills, through engaging with the additional University support services beyond the classroom. Accredited Prior Learning (APL) is not available for a Certificate in Professional Studies. (Regulation 2.1.7)

Work towards HR practitioner and HR manager roles. On successful completion of the Intermediate programme in Human Resource Management, you will become an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and can progress towards the CIPD approved Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.
