University Diploma (part-time)
Firmly located in the context of the every child matters agenda, this programme is designed for professionally qualified child care professionals to develop and extend their theoretical knowledge and practice skills in working with children, young people, their families and carers.
Developed in partnership with employers to deliver the General Social Care Council’s Post Qualifying Specialist Award for Children, Young People, Their Families and Carers to qualified social workers, it is also open to any professionally qualified child care practitioner wishing to develop their knowledge and skills.
This is a part-time programme for students who are currently in appropriate employment and the assessment of practice in the workplace is a central feature of the award. It is delivered by way of short intensive study blocks.
Taught modules explore the evidence base of contemporary child care practice, developments in child welfare law and policy and encourage the development of skills in direct work with children and families, and the supervision and development of professional staff.
