University of Gloucestershire Assessment Only Route to Qualified Teacher Status

A successful provider of a similar route since 2002 supporting over 1000 teachers to gain QTS

The UoG Assessment Only Route to QTS will support very experienced teachers who are ready to demonstrate the QTS Standards.

Our approach is a tested route to success and we provide the following support:

  • Interview
  • Comprehensive Handbook of Guidance, regarded by former teachers as ‘excellent’
  • Initial visit to school by an experienced assessor to provide the candidate with guidance on the evidence required
  • On-line support and twilight sessions available at UoG

Requirements

  • Submission of Portfolio of Evidence against the QTS Standards
  • Assessment visit including observation of lessons and discussions with senior staff.

The fees for this supported route towards QTS will be £2250. 

Overseas Trained Teachers are eligible to apply for the Assessment Only Route; as long as they meet the above criteria and have already had their qualifications checked by UK NARIC (www.naric.org.uk).

In the first instance for further information please complete the Expression of Interest Form (Primary or Secondary).

All candidates wishing to be considered for this option must fulfil the following criteria as a minimum:

  • hold a degree
  • hold GCSE English and Maths (+ science for Primary) grade C or above, or equivalent qualification. 
  • teach across two consecutive age ranges
  • teach classes which are not customarily fewer than twenty learners
  • be able to teach learners from diverse backgrounds
  • be able to teach learners across the whole ability range
  • candidates will be required to attend an interview which will be held at the UoG
  • candidates are required to have the full support of the Head Teacher of the school in which they are employed
