Honours Degree
Globalisation, sustainability and climate change. The world’s most pressing issues are inherently geographical, putting this subject in the international spotlight.
As a degree it offers a broad academic experience like no other. With above average graduate employability and diverse career paths, it suits those both with and without a clear sense of their career ambitions.
Our course focuses on geography relevant to the present and future to generate well-rounded, sought-after graduates.
You’ll become proficient in geographic information systems (GIS), work in well-equipped laboratories, draw upon extensive IT resources and participate in field trips both in the UK and abroad. Current overseas destinations include Belfast, the Swiss Alps and Uganda, with Patagonia, Gambia and Iceland to be offered as alternative trips.
You’ll experience varied assessments and gain a more comprehensive and fairer measure of your performance. Our marking system accommodates your rate of adjustment to higher education, ensuring your potential is accurately reflected in your final degree grade.
You’ll be given the opportunity to take modules outside of geography, such as an introduction to Teaching English as a Foreign Language, supporting the restless geographer in you to travel around or live in different parts of the world. You might also choose our work placement module, giving you a competitive edge of experience, attractive to employers.
