"There’s plenty of choice if you want to get involved in any teams in your spare time - I’m Captain of the men’s hockey team and have been on trips abroad with the Snow Club."

Foundation Degree Sports Development and Coaching
I applied to the University of Gloucestershire because of the excellent reputation for students looking to move on to teaching as a career (I believe the university originated many years ago as a teacher training college).
I also liked the compact size, which allows personal attention from staff.  In fact, I’ve got to know some of the lecturers quite well and find them very approachable.  There’s a warm and friendly atmosphere on the campus.
The high points of my time here so far have been making friends for life and winning my BUCS hockey league (a university sports league).  I’ve really enjoyed getting involved with the sports teams too.  There’s plenty of choice if you want to get involved in any teams in your spare time - I’m Captain of the men’s hockey team and have been on trips abroad with the Snow Club.
I’ve found the course is very relevant and the workload manageable.  I’ve taken advantage of the many coaching opportunities, which have improved my transferable skills and built up my confidence.  The work placements I’ve done in schools have been very rewarding too and I think this practical experience has added to my professional development.
When I’ve completed the foundation degree I’d like to top it up to a degree and then probably apply for a Graduate Teacher Programme.
