The course offers a range of opportunities for you to develop and combine both your academic thinking, and your practical knowledge of the sports sector through classroom based study. We have a fantastic range of 'real life' placement and experiential opportunities with partners across the county and region!
We think the difference with our course is the chance for you to take control of your learning, and to really make the most of the intellectual and practical challenges that we offer. We see our students make great strides and a real impact through their management, leadership and work on an array of events and initiatives: schools and community programmes, Onside - our football outreach project, No Limits - the disability sports product, PhASE - our students' own social enterprise, and even on projects in Africa through Sport Malawi.
We’re delighted that many of our students now find themselves developing strong careers in Sport with amongst others, National Governing Bodies of sport, regional and national sports agencies such as County Sports Partnerships and Sports Councils, and a range of public and private sector sport and leisure providers.
If you want to talk to us about Sports Development at the University of Gloucestershire we’d be delighted to hear from you. Why not give us a call and have a chat about the course.

Scott Milne Football Development Officer, Gloucestershire FA (graduated 2009)
"The course was great for me. I had some really good football-based placements and learned to work with community clubs. We even had a module focused solely on football’s role in the community. This has definitely helped me get into my current job as a Football Development Officer" |

Sarah Coombs Now on Postgraduate Sports Development programme (graduated 2010)
"The course really helps you to put theory into practice. I have had the opportunity to work in the local community in a really meaningful way, running a healthy lifestyles project with local primary schools. It’s helped me to think strategically and to develop my skills. I’ve also met future employers with whom I’ve built some really successful partnerships." |

Justine Naylor National Director of Sport, British Show Jumping
"Whilst I was studying I had the opportunity to get involved with, and help manage, the Students' Sporting Social Enterprise 'Phase'. This gave me the opportunity to link with sports industry professionals in the community. Later, when it came to applying for jobs, the experience it had given made me a lot more confident about my readiness and ability to take on the role I was applying for" |

Julie Ladbrooke Development Manager, Bedfordshire FA
"The Sports Development Course at Gloucester gave me the opportunity to take control of my studies and use them in ‘the real world’. I think the work I did with the community as part of my course really helped when it came to applying for jobs and meeting employers." |
