| The award |
Scholarship awards made under this scheme are jointly funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) and participating institutions in the UK to jointly support scholarships for students from developing Commonwealth countries who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK.
The scheme is administered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), whose secretariat is provided by the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

| Applicants for the scholarship should be: |
Nationals of (or permanently domiciled in) a Commonwealth developing country, and not currently living or studying in a developed country.
List of developing Commonwealth countries:
Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Botswana, British Virgin Islands, Cameroon, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Falkland Islands, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Montserrat, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn, St. Helena, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Seychelles *, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tanzania,Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tristan da Cunha, Turks and Caicos, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Western Samoa, Zambia, Zimbabwe * Awards are not presently available to Seychelles or Zimbabwe. DFID no longer funds scholarships to candidates from Bahamas, Brunei Darussalam, Cyprus, Malta and Singapore. |
| Eligibility |
• CSSS guidelines encourage the selection of nominees with the highest grade. Candidates are expected to hold a first degree at either first class or upper second class level.
• Candidates must be sufficiently fluent in written and oral English to pursue their studies immediately. The University requires a minimum score of IELTS 6.5 (6.0 in writing) or equivalent for admission to the MSc in Environmental Policy and Management.
Note: Candidates who have already had the opportunity of studying for one year or more in a developed country will not be eligible for an award.
Candidates must be aware that sponsoring institutions are asked to give priority to candidates under the age of 30, but may give reasons for wishing to make exceptions for older candidates. |
| Candidates are required to sign and submit with their application an undertaking that they: |
• are nationals of a developing country • are permanently domiciled in a developing Commonwealth country, and are not at present living or studying in a developed country • have not undertaken studies lasting one year or more in a developed country • are not at present employed by a National Government or a parastatal organisation (University and Polytechnic employees are exempted from this restriction) • are themselves, or through their family, unable to pay to study in the United Kingdom and • will return to their home country as soon as the award ends. |

• MSc Environmental Policy and Management To apply for the MSc Environmental Policy and Management course applicants are required to complete a postgraduate application form: www.glos.ac.uk/apply/Documents/pgradtaughtappform.pdf
• CSSS Scholarship To apply for the CSSS scholarship, candidates are requested to write on the front of the Postgraduate application form: Commonwealth Shared Scholarship application. Applicants will then need to complete two CSSS forms (SSS Application Form and Candidate Declaration).
Please ensure that the required CSSS forms (the two forms above) are completed and accompany your postgraduate application. |

The university will require original copies of certificates/transcripts for the candidate who is selected for the award, or notorised copies. These will be returned upon verification. |
