Using Church Assets for Affordable Homes

University of Gloucestershire lecturer, James Derounian, and graduate-turned consultant, Tracey Bessant, are at the forefront of efforts to deliver affordable homes across England.

James and Tracey have played a central role in assembling 'Faith in Affordable Housing', an online resource which will be launched at the General Synod of the Church of England, London today (12th February.) Matthew Taylor MP, who reported to Government on this issue, will be the key speaker.

James said: "This is a very practical step towards churches providing even more affordable homes, whilst generating cash from redundant churches or otherwise useless pieces of land.

"Tracey Bessant is the main author, with a team of us, from different denominations and none, backing her up. It's been a tremendous, practical ecumenical initiative".
