Young Photographers Showcased at the NEC

Pulsating work from young photographers at University of Gloucestershire will be showcased at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham next week.

After the triumph of last year’s show at the FOCUS Photography Festival, the graduating students from the University of Gloucestershire’s BA Editorial and Advertising Photography course will be returning to the NEC again this year from February 22 to February 25.

They will be displaying their creative talents to an expected audience of 30,000 visitors over the week long festival.

Aiming to show that they are the leaders in creative photography and innovative ideas they have created a unique interactive exhibition featuring their pictures complemented by short films, music and live performance by music students from the University.

The title of the show is PULSE, each of the 24 exhibiting students have especially created work that interprets the word ‘pulse’.

For the second year running the University of Gloucestershire’s BA Photography-Editorial and Advertising students will be aiming to be the best student stand at the festival.

They have dubbed Tuesday 24th Feb as ‘Super Tuesday’ at FOCUS, with an action packed day at the PULSE show with hourly events.  Musicians and DJs will be playing live sets in the exhibition based on the theme of PULSE, the students will photograph and project live images during these performances for the festival to see. The day at the PULSE exhibition concludes with student presentations and FOCUS awards from leading photographic companies Fuji, Nikon and Canon.

Course leader John Ingledew said: “FOCUS is a brilliant festival and the perfect venue to launch the careers of our young creative photographers. The PULSE exhibition radiates with the energy and the creative thinking we aim to inspire on our course and at our University. “
