Applying for halls of residence

The application process for 2018/19 halls of residence is open and you can apply by following the instructions below.

Please note that the 2019/20 application process will open on Monday 14 January 2019.

The application process for 2018/19 Paramedic, Nursing and other January starters will open on Monday 12 November 2018.

Completing your halls of residence application

In order to apply, you will need to setup your university network account. You can follow the steps below to access the university network for the first time.

If you have already used the applicant portal then the password you used to access this will allow you to access to your accommodation portal.

  1. Log in to the university network for the first time by accessing the password self-service portal. Click on 'register for forgotten password reset'. Your user name is your 7-digit student number preceded by a lower-case 's' (e.g. s1234567) and your initial password is 'Student', followed by your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format, e.g. Student14052000 (note the capital 'S'). Your student number is included in your University of Gloucestershire offer email.
  2. Change your password and register for password recovery. After changing your password, complete the registration process for forgotten password recovery and then close your web browser to ensure that the password reset process completes correctly.
  3. Log-in to the applicant portal again, where you will be required to read and accept the university's IT Acceptable Use Policy. Enter your network username and password to agree to the policy terms. Close your browser again to finish this process.

Once you have completed the steps above, you can access your accommodation portal. Once logged in, select ‘Application’ and complete the halls of residence application process.

Part of this process involves selecting your top 3 preferred halls. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee matching your preferred Halls but we will allocate as closely as possible. Please note that we allocate rooms based on the date we receive your application so the earlier you apply the better chance you will have of getting one of your preferred choices.

If you have difficulties logging in, please email the IT Helpdesk or telephone +44 (0)1242 714044.

Terms and conditions for living in halls of residence

For many reasons, including the health and safety of all student residents, there are a number of terms and conditions you agree to when accepting a place in residence. You can view these during the room offer acceptance process.

Please note all halls are non-smoking and no halls students are permitted to bring vehicles.

When do I get confirmation that I've been allocated a room?

2018/19 applicants: we will get back to you with a room offer as soon as possible after you have submitted an application. At this point you will need to make a payment of £200 and set up a direct debit for your rent payment. If you accept an offer of a place in residence, you will be signing a legally-binding contract for the full period stated on the offer letter.

2019/20 applicants: instructions about accepting your room offer will be emailed to the email address you registered with UCAS at the time of application from spring 2019 onwards. This will include instructions on completing the room acceptance process via our halls portal. Here you will be given details of your room, dates of occupancy, rent and the full terms and conditions. You will need to make a payment of £200 at this time and set up a direct debit for rent payment within seven days of receiving your room offer. If you accept an offer of a place in residence, you will be signing a legally-binding contract for the full period stated on the offer letter.

Students with disabilities

The university’s halls of residence have accessible rooms on all campuses. These rooms tend to be larger than the other rooms in halls with more accessible bathroom facilities and flexible interiors to suit the level of need required.

The university endeavours to accommodate the needs of students with disabilities. In order to assist the accommodation office with specific requirements, we encourage you to initially contact one of our disability advisers. Call 01242 714541 or email and state your requirements.

Postgraduate students

We offer town house accommodation for postgraduates including PGCE students. Based on our newly developed Pittville Student Village, these town houses provide study bedroom accommodation with modern large kitchens and communal areas. If you are a new postgraduate student entering your studies at the university and you have firmly accepted your offer and completed the online halls of residence application process you will be eligible for these halls of residence.
