The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) is the leading funding agency for academic research and training in biosciences.

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funds social sciences students. Research students studying at the Countryside and Community Research unit, and human geography (+3 funding) are eligible to seek funding.
The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funds humanities students, studying subjects including English, media, history and theology.

University Research Studentships
We offer a range of full-time research studentships, which provide tuition fees and a maintenance grant.
They are renewable on an annual basis, subject to satisfactory progress, for up to a maximum of three years, and advertised nationally as they become available.
