One million euro university project to take the Growth Hub to Indonesia

​’Growing Indonesia’ is an EU funded project, led by the university’s Business School to develop entrepreneurs across Indonesia. With a population of 260 million, Indonesia is Southeast Asia’s largest economy, yet there is a lack of support for the creation of start-ups and a reliance on foreign labour.

The project aims to create Growth Hubs in Indonesian universities over the next three years, using the model of the Gloucestershire Growth Hub. This will develop entrepreneurial capacity amongst graduates and local communities across the country.  

After the successful kick-off meeting in Jakarta in December, the University of Gloucestershire welcomes the project consortium to Gloucestershire on 12 and 13 April. Representatives from the seven Indonesian and four European universities will meet the university’s Vice Chancellor Stephen Marston, Deputy Vice Chancellor Richard O’Doherty, and Dean of Academic Development David James.

The main business of the meeting is to develop action plans for each Indonesian institution and to plan for the design of physical spaces to be developed into local Growth Hubs, similar to the one based at the university. The visitors will also be given a tour of the Growth Hub and meet with local entrepreneurs at Oxstalls Campus.
