Celebrating the arts at the University Festival

From the Printers’ Symphony to the Piano Trail, the Arts Festival at the University of Gloucestershire is hosting a wide range of creative events on campus.

From June 7-10 the festival, which forms part of the annual University Festival, will include a host of events for students, staff and the public to enjoy. And from creating a large scale hanging with The Printers’ Symphony, to creating a piano related sculpture to mark the 150th anniversary of composer Erik Satie’s birth, there are plenty of opportunities for visitors to make their mark.

With most events taking place at the university’s Hardwick Centre for Fashion, Art and Photography in Swindon Road, Cheltenham, the festival also features talks by visiting artists, an art teachers’ evening, a closer look at the Fashion degree and facilities with Fashion is Everything We Do, and experimental music at the Xposed Club. In addition, the university’s annual School of Art and Design Degree Show launches with a private view on Friday June 3, with the exhibition continuing until Friday 17 June, including weekends.

Head of the School of Art and Design, Angus Pryor, said: “Building on the success of events last year we are looking forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy the diverse events on offer as part of this year’s Arts Festival. It’s an opportunity to discover more about what our students do as well as the chance to try something new.”
