FA selects University as Women’s High Performance Football Centre

The University of Gloucestershire has been chosen by the Football Association to lead the way in developing and increasing the number of qualified coaches in women’s football.

The University is one of eight sites selected for their ability to deliver coach development and collaboration with local football teams. As the only centre in the South West, the University of Gloucestershire will build on providing the highest quality coaching, sports science, sports medicine and scholarship opportunities.

Ben Waterhouse, Sport and Physical Activity Manager says; “The University of Gloucestershire is proud to have been selected as one of the FA’s Women’s High Performance Football Centres. This reflects the commitment we have for the highest quality training and development of the next generation of coaches, players and officials. Aspiring coaches and talented players are central to the future of the women’s game.”

Anita Navin, Head of School of Sport and Exercise says; “The University of Gloucestershire is thrilled to be part of this scheme and we look forward to working with the FA. As a passionate advocate of coach education I am confident this programme will have real and lasting benefits for football at the university and in the South West.”
