Local leadership expert getting down to business with university students

Leadership expert, author and managing director of Gloucestershire-based company QuoLux, Stewart Barnes, will be working with students studying at the University of Gloucestershire’s Business School. Recently appointed a visiting fellow at the university, Stewart will be offering his expertise to students as well as working with the Business School on a range of research projects.

On his appointment Stewart said: “It is a great privilege to contribute to the work of the university in my role as visiting fellow. The integration of our finest learning institutions with the coal face of commerce, the thousands of small and medium businesses which are responsible for employing almost a third of the working population and producing almost a third of our GDP, is vital. There is much that we can achieve together, and an extraordinary range and depth of expertise to be shared by all of the visiting fellows.”

Gwyn Jones, Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences and Business at the University of Gloucestershire, said: “One of our principle aims is to produce career-ready graduates and so we offer our students real-life business experience alongside their learning and expose them to leading business expertise. As an enterprise and leadership expert and practitioner, Stewart’s involvement will be hugely beneficial to our students as they learn directly from him. From a Business School perspective, Stewart will also be helping determine and develop areas of impactive research for us to explore.”

QuoLux, leadership and strategy development specialists, and the university recently announced a joint MBA (Masters of Business Administration) in Leading Business which offers work-based learning for people currently running their own businesses. Participants on the course will be given the opportunity to gain a master’s level qualification and bring formal learning to their ongoing experiences, and will be given extensive knowledge which they’ll be able to immediately use.

QuoLux also deliver the LEAD programme, designed for owner-managers. LEAD combines formal input and experiential learning within a peer group of other SME (small and medium sized business) leaders, and can be accredited with a Postgraduate Certificate in Personal and Professional practice, forming the basis of a Diploma and a Master’s degree which, since 2015, has been delivered in partnership with the university.
