Student receives award for outstanding teaching

Amy Perring has won the Old Students’ Association award for her outstanding work at the University of Gloucestershire.

Amy, from Poole, received the award during her graduation at The Centaur in Cheltenham on Friday November 27.

The award is given by the OSA, former students of the Colleges of St Paul and/or St Mary, predecessor colleges of the University of Gloucestershire. The OSA aims to establish a fellowship between all generations of students, and gives the award for outstanding classroom teaching.

Having initially studied drama in London she then started a PGCE. Amy is now living in Cheltenham and teaching Year 4 children at a local school, and was delighted to receive the award.

“I was very surprised!” she said. “The course was really tough and at times I didn’t think I would be able to make it to the end. Now I have my own class I am so pleased I did, I love having my own class and my own classroom!”
