Your Alumni Association 

The Mission, Membership and Objectives of the Association

Mission Statement

The Mission of the University of Gloucestershire Alumni Association is to establish and promote lasting and supportive relationships among its members, students, the University and the community.

Membership

All former students and staff of the University of Gloucestershire as well as former students and staff of its constituent Colleges of:

  • Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education
  • St Paul's College
  • St Mary's College
  • The College of St Paul and St Mary
  • Gloucestershire College of Arts & Technology (pre 1990 higher education courses)
  • Gloucester City College of Technology
  • Gloucestershire College of Art & Design
  • North Gloucestershire College of Technology
  • Gloucestershire College of Education

The College of St Paul and St Mary Old Students' Association (OSA) will maintain its independent status and members of the OSA will have automatic entitlement to membership of the University Alumni Association.

Objectives

  • To perpetuate friendships formed in University and to establish a fellowship between all generations of students.
  • To promote the Association to current students and staff and to research and contact former students and staff who have lost touch with the University;
  • To communicate on a regular basis with its members keeping them informed of developments within the University and the Association;
  • To organise social, educational and 'networking' events both locally to the University and through regional and international groupings;
  • To establish and administer a package of benefits and services for University alumni;
  • To encourage alumni to act as 'ambassadors' of the University and to assist in the recruitment of future students;
  • To support the University as a place of excellence in teaching and research by fund-raising activities both amongst and through its membership;
  • To foster more extended relationships between present and former students and staff and others associated with the University through the implementation of mentoring schemes, careers advice and professional networks.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors will advise the University's Alumni Office on the activities of the Association, help in the planning of future activities and evaluate the success of the Association as a whole. Its membership will consist of volunteer alumni and members of University staff and will meet twice a year. The Board will advise on the strategic direction of the Association and help to evaluate its activities.
