A Message from the Dean of the Business School, Kevin Richardson
I am delighted to welcome you to our new website and I hope that in reading about the latest developments in the Business School you are encouraged to keep in touch with us and are able to help the faculty develop its links and services for the business community. Our ambition is to be of increasing relevance to you personally throughout you career. Your engagement with the faculty and our teaching and research teams is highly valued and your contribution to our development is key to our long term success in terms of the impact we will have in the business community & on the colleagues we support and manage. Our goals for the next few years are related to skills development for those in employment, so expect to see more work based learning initiatives from various academic teams. Graduates seeking both employment and engagement in professional development and research are very much our focus, so too are those professionals in employment seeking to ‘top up’ their skills, knowledge & qualifications. Further, we are successfully expanding our role overseas through the delivery of the MBA & DBA and promoting the faculty with increasing success as the place for overseas students to undertake Business & Management related degrees.
As the County’s Business School we have a moral obligation to reflect all that is good about management education & development and in the current climate a values driven university, such as ours has an increasingly important role to play in these particularly challenging times. The faculty is a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative, designed to inspire and champion responsible management education, research and thought leadership globally. As such we are committed to establish a process of continuous improvement in order to develop a new generation of business leaders capable of managing the complex challenges faced by business and society in the 21st century.
Our graduates make a real & sustained difference in the organisations they serve & in society as whole, and our aim is to interact with managers of business of all sizes to extend our knowledge of the challenges they are facing and to explore jointly effective approaches to meeting these challenges - and it this spirit of partnership that will be a feature of our work in the future through the development of the capabilities of students to be future generators of sustainable value for business and society at large.
