BA (Hons) Business Management graduate

I was only 18 when I left for university and so I initially chose the University of Gloucestershire because it was close enough to my hometown of Bristol to be able to pop back on the train anytime I wanted. When I arrived in Cheltenham, I very quickly changed my mind and so hardly ever went home.
If you'd asked me seven years ago, before being at university, what my dissertation subject was going to be, I wouldn't have had a clue. I certainly wouldn't have guessed it to be what I ended up doing. During my four years at university, I met two fantastic lecturers in Julie Paterson and Ed Trezise. They were able to instil in me a great interest in the sociological and philosphical aspects of my subject. I realised then that there were far more things to consider than just how a computer went together.
From this initial inspiration, it then snowballed. I started writing, joined a creative writing club, got in touch with editors and now regularly write for music and arts magazines. Although my degree was extremely useful in terms of business and ICT, it took me the four years of university to recognise that I had far more career interests than just computing.
I was a regular member of both the Athletics club and Live Music Society. In fact I still run, entering half-marathon competitons, and I'm now playing in a band, so both memberships were worth the time and effort.
My current job role is as a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) teacher in an institute in Santiago de Chile. My duties include planning lessons, administration when required and teaching English classes in the institute, businesses and sometimes the British Embassy, where they have free tea and biscuits! I love my job and never wake up wishing the weekend would come.
I always had the most amazing time whenever I was with the friends I had made. I am still very good friends with many of my university mates and consider two of them to be my best friends in the whole world. It proves that you don't only grow up at university but make the friendships you'll treasure for life.
If you want to hear more about what's going on in Santiago, feel free to look at my blog http://kemptation.tumblr.com - I update it quite regularly.
