BA (Hons) Business Management graduate
I chose the University of Gloucestershire for a number of reasons, the main one being that the Business School has a great reputation. I also liked the location and feel of Cheltenham and Gloucester as there is plenty to keep you entertained in both places.
Winning the BUG (Business Planning at the University of Gloucestershire) Competition this year was a highlight for me. It’s a well-respected and challenging competition where participants have to prepare a complete business idea and plan from scratch. Other highlights include the annual Sports Awards Dinner and representing the university basketball team for Varsity.
I really enjoyed playing basketball and was fortunate enough to be on the committee and captain the club. Aside from representing the University in BUCS and Varsity, being in a club improved my organisational and leadership skills. These are both highly valued transferable skills.
Obviously the course has provided me with theory and business knowledge that will be extremely useful when I start employment in September – I’ve been accepted as a graduate trainee with the Metropolitan Police in the Information Directorate. However, it has also provided me with transferable skills such as leadership, organisational and presentation skills which I can benefit from in many walks of life.
