PRESS RELEASE: RELAYS shortlisted for Times Higher Education award October 2010
RELAYS (Regional Educational Legacy in Arts and Youth Sport) is an innovative and ambitious programme designed to inspire young people and their communities to participate in, create and promote cultural and sporting activities in South West England. Its aim is to create a positive and lasting legacy for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The University of Gloucestershire is working in collaboration with 10 other universities and cultural partners, led by Universities South West, to help run and support a variety of activities, events and festivals designed to inspire and engage young people. Here at Gloucestershire, RELAYS supports a wide range of outreach and student-led activity, including Onside – our football outreach partnership; No Limits and Active Inclusion; PhASE; our Rugby League Community Partnership; the Longlevens Teenagers Club; Get Set and the many student-led events, tournaments and initiatives that each year bring thousands of young people into contact with the University and with higher education more generally.

RELAYS is funded by Legacy Trust UK, an independent charity that has been set up to help build a lasting cultural and sporting legacy from the 2012 Olympic Games, and HEFCE (The Higher Education Funding Council for England).
