Location, Location, Location
The 27th October saw the university’s media faculty hosting two workshops on Location Management. Fiona Francome, the Head of Production and Services at South West Screen led both sessions, the first of which was for media academy students. Students found the session incredibly useful as Fiona, who worked for over a decade as a location manager of productions such as Larkrise to Candleford, Persuasion, Afterlife and Casualty, was able to offer first-hand knowledge of the realities of location work in the South West. Following the session Fiona held more in-depth discussions on work-experience and career development with a number of academy students.

Fiona then delivered a workshop for students and GMG members in the evening. This was the first of several sessions that the Academy will deliver in partnership with the Gloucestershire Media Group over the coming year.
