The University of Gloucestershire has a vibrant academic community where creative research together with cutting-edge scholarship are conducted at a high level.
Our learning-led environment enables research to thrive across and between academic disciplines, providing the best support for postgraduate and also undergraduate students.
The government’s 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) results for Higher Education institutions shows that the University has work of ‘world-leading’ quality in five of its research areas. More than half of the work in seven out of the University’s 12 submissions to the RAE was additionally recognised as of international quality, while all academic areas were judged to be of a quality that is recognised nationally. All results are available as ‘quality profiles’ on the RAE website at www.rae.ac.uk.
The university has a dynamic research culture providing a stimulating intellectual context for postgraduate study and a supportive environment for home and international research students.
We offer a range of postgraduate opportunities across the university, where you can work on your individual research topic alongside experienced researchers and supervisors.
In addition to full training in research methods, the university also provides a training programme for research students who wish to pursue a teaching career in higher education. Departments may also provide opportunities for paid part-time lecturing and tutorial work. For more information on our research degrees, please see Postgraduate Research Opportunities.
