Celebration of Staff Research and Launch of Research Centres, 30 June 2009

Over 100 staff and research students from across the university attended a successful event, introduced by the Vice-Chancellor and held on Pittville Campus, to introduce the newest university Research Centres to colleagues and to re-introduce two established Centres. This was combined with the third annual celebration of staff research achievements during the past year, to which many colleagues contributed individual research outputs ; these are recorded in a small booklet. Colleagues enjoyed the opportunity to hear about the plans of the new centres and to talk about their research with colleagues over refreshments.

Work of the new centres was on show, and members were available to meet colleagues.  The new Centres are:

  • Centre for Research in Consumption, Culture and Communication (CentRiCCC)
  • Centre for Research in Service (CeReS)
  • International Centre for Contemporary Accounting Research (CenCAR)
  • Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Development, Ethics Research  (LEaDER)
  • Research Centre for Media, Memory and Community (MMC)
  • Centre for Women, Ageing and Media (WAM)

The work of the existing Centre for Environmental Change and Quaternary Research (CECQR) and the International Centre for Biblical Interpretation (ICBI) was also presented.

Links to the University Research Centres are now available on the web at http://www.glos.ac.uk/research/

The leaders of the Centres will be pleased to hear from colleagues with an interest in their area who were unable to attend the event and would like to hear more and maybe become involved in their work.
