The Business School, Cheltenham
We aim to:
- Develop the individual
- Improve business practice
- Extend knowledge.
Our vision is of engaged scholarship that contributes directly to the vitality of the management disciplines.
Research is key in all three areas of endeavour:
- Research underpins our teaching for individual development;
- Improved practice hinges on the insight generated through our research;
- Advancing knowledge for the benefit of managers and the professions flows from research engagement.
We aim to achieve international recognition for research that influences our disciplines; to contribute directly to policy and practice in organizations, and to help shape individuals who can achieve sustainable development for themselves and lead others to the same goal.
The main clusters of research activity in the School are in the areas of leadership and change; services marketing, operations and strategy; consumer behaviour; human factors and biomimetics in robotics.
Our work with organizations is showcased through our many Knowledge Transfer Partnerships. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) is Europe's leading programme helping businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK knowledge base. KTP is funded by the Technology Strategy Board with 17 other funding organisations. Visit the KTP homepage.
Our doctoral programmes are the other major element in research activity within the School. The PhD programme is a large one, with over 80 students. The newly launched Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) has already achieved a European presence, with collaborations in Austria, Cyprus, Germany and Switzerland providing an international perspective.
