This group is led by two established researchers (David Dawson, Sue Williams). Mark Saunders, a previous member of this group, now has a Chair elsewhere, but continues to work collaboratively with staff in the School. The two established researchers have been joined by two early career researchers (Darren Caudle, Jason MacVaugh).
Colleagues within the school act as referees for a number of journals, David Dawson: Journal of Business Ethics and Business Ethics; MacVaugh: International Journal of Globalisation and Small Business and actively participate in conferences, both as reviewers - Dawson: American Academy of Management Conference (HRM) and International Conference Promoting Business Ethics; Sue Williams: American Academy of Management Annual Conference (four divisions) and the International Human Resource Development Conference; and serve on organising committees - Dawson: as Chair for European Business Ethics Conference 2007, and as joint chair for Virtue Ethics in Business International seminar series (run between Australia/UK/USA) and as a participant on the EBEN conference committee.
The group's focus is broadly organizational change and development. Staff in this group, and associated with it, have continued to publish major text books, including Strategic Human Resource Management: Contemporary Issues (Saunders, Lewis, Millmore, Thornhill, Morrow) and Organizational Change (Senior and Jocelyne Fleming). Staff have also been invited to give key note addresses on change, for example Fleming at the Culture and Change for the National Housing Conference in Manchester, 2007.
Other members associated with this research group have focused on consultancy, Mike Maughan (with Prof. Julian Webb, UK Centre for Legal Education) advising the Law Society on work-based Learning and the selection of consultants to develop new standards for the Training Contract, part of the solicitors' qualification process.
Early career researchers have been appointed in order to reinforce the group's capacity to deal with broader structural and strategic issues, with research outputs in these new areas expected to grow.
There have been a total of 37 conference papers and 14 journal articles. The group also hosted the European Business Ethics Network in 2007, again reflecting its developing wider remit.
