Centre for Research in Consumption, Culture and Communication (CentRiCCC)

Our Research Interests

CentRiCCC is led by Dr Janine Dermody, a consumer psychologist with extensive research experience. The focus of the research within the centre is to further understanding of consumers and their cultures of consumption and to evaluate the styles and influences of marketing language on the choices and behaviour of individuals in traditional and non-traditional consumptionscapes. Accordingly some researchers will be examining these topics separately, and others will be examining the interconnections between them.

The centre boasts an eclectic range of research topics organised around five research themes:

We present our research within Europe and America, work collaboratively with universities in the UK and Europe and have a large and growing publications history (some of which is listed in these webpages).

Our Vision

  • To engage in research that is judged as ‘excellent’ (by research assessment criteria), that contributes to knowledge, is transformative, contemporary, applied and relevant to our curriculum, facilitates curricula innovation, supports doctoral supervision, encourages collaboration and generates  high quality publications
  • To establish a strong reputation - internally and externally – as a centre of expertise in the disciplines of consumption, culture and communication
