Commissioning Toolkit: a Commissioning Resource for Physical Activity, Mental Health & Wellbeing and Food & Nutrition

Diane Crone has been involved in a successful tender to develop a COMMISSIONING TOOLKIT; a Commissioning Resource for Physical Activity, Mental Health and Wellbeing and Food and Nutrition for the North West of England, in partnership with HM Partnerships CIC, University of Salford and Cavill Associates Ltd, along with independent consultants with key expertise in specific topic areas. It is a fully costed enterprise commencing in June 2010 for 1 year,  Diane Crone is the lead for mental health and wellbeing. 

The aim and objectives of the project are as follows: 

AIM

The aim of the project is to develop a commissioning resource to inform and support organisations across the region in commissioning services in the area of physical activity, mental health and wellbeing and food and nutrition.

OBJECTIVES
  • To scope commissioners and service providers’ current level of expertise and understanding of evidence to commission, deliver and evaluate services relating to the three areas.
  • To identify the appropriate format for the commissioning resource in discussion with potential users and knowledge of effectiveness and utility of pre-existing toolkits
  • Develop the content of the commissioning resource to include policy context, evidence base, related public health intelligence, effective monitoring and evaluation and case studies of good practice.
  • Test the draft resource amongst commissioners, providers and other key stakeholders to assess utility (fit for purpose).
  • Make recommendations to the North West Centre for Transformation in Health and Wellbeing for effective implementation of the resource.
