GUGOGA is a social marketing campaign designed, developed and managed by Active Gloucestershire, aimed at promoting physical activity in the Gloucestershire county. It has two aspects:
- to encourage people to be more active by proving information on opportunities available in the local area, through posters, radio advertisements and signposting to a website where they can search for their interest.
- a training and support role for local professionals to help them to provide support for the people that they work with, to become more physically active.
The evaluation team of Dr’s Diane Crone and Lindsey Kilgour, and Colin Baker (PhD Researcher), aim to evaluate the perceived impact and perception of GUGOGA and the attitudes, opinions and perceptions of GUGOGA as a tool for promoting physical activity to local professionals involved in the project. The evaluation will take place from September 2010 until January 2011 and involves a series of interviews and focus groups with participants/recipients of the project and local professionals involved in its delivery and implementation.
Dr Kilgour and Colin Baker will be undertaking the majority of the evaluation, which will culminate in a formal report to be submitted at the end of January 2011.
