The School of Humanities hosts a wide range of subjects and each Department offers particular strengths, according to the research demands and profiles of their disciplines. In the Institute of Education & Public Services, pedagogic research addresses the needs of primary through tertiary education, and focuses on educational leadership.  The School of Humanities has particular research strengths in English, History and Theology & Religious Studies, including recent developments in the Bible and Spirituality.  In addition, research funding has been secured to develop the distinctiveness of a pedagogy for Creative Writing. The School of Natural and Social Sciences has a record of research projects in many established areas, such as Geography, and in newer ones, including Applied Psychology, Animal Biology and Criminology.  Stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Defence, the SITA Trust, and the NHS fund significant projects in this Department.
