Professor Daniella Tilbury and Alex Ryan have been invited by Rikkyo University to be lead editors of a special edition of the International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education (IJSHE). The special edition funded by the Education for Sustainable Development Research Centre (ESDRC) examines whether we are making progress in higher education towards sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific. The authors of this section initially gathered for an international symposium, 'Sustainability in Higher Education: Learning from the Experiences in Asia and the World' (14 December 2008). Based on the recommendations made at the symposium, the authors made in-depth analysis on the growing efforts in selected countries. The series included papers from Japan, China, Pacific Islands, The Philippines, India and Taiwan.
The editors and authors are meeting once again at Rikkyo University in Tokyo, Japan on the 27-28th September to finalise manuscripts. The special edition is expected to be in print by December 2010.
