Flood Research site launched

Flooded Tewkesbury

The exciting new web pages for the Centre for the Study of Floods and Communities - interdisciplinary research for resilient futures - are now live on the University of Gloucestershire’s Research web pages.  The Centre is interdisciplinary and focuses on key issues in building sustainable and resilient communities in the context of changing flood risk.  The Centre draws on a long history of activity and experience in water science and community research, knowledge exchange, consultancy and training at the University.

The web pages provide further details about the Centre’s four research themes:

• water science,
• community development,
• representation and perception, and
• policy and governance.

The Centre’s activity focuses at the overlap or intersection of two or more these themes.

The web pages also outline some of the staff from across the University involved in the Centre’s on-going research and community engagement activities and provide links to key flood policy documents – in the light of the Pitt Review post the 2007 floods, the Government’s response and the draft Flood and Water Bill.  These web-pages form a pivotal part of the Centre’s strategy to develop long-term links and engagement with the different communities involved in flood risk and its management – regionally, nationally and internationally.  For further information or discussions around involvement, collaborations and partnerships, please contact lmcewen@glos.ac.uk.
