Biography

Bill studied Amenity Horticulture, before BA Landscape Architecture at Leeds Metropolitan University and PGDip LA at Greenwich University. He has recently completed MA in Leadership and Management and is exploring PhD subjects.

His working career started as a Horticulturalist, Arboriculturalist and Landscape & Garden Designer, before progressing on to Landscape Architecture practice. Bill has worked on Historic Landscape and Garden restoration projects in the UK and Europe; golf course architecture, landscape management projects, urban and community design and planning schemes, green infrastructure projects, therapeutic gardens, and commercial, residential and recreational landscape projects. Career highlights so far include working on Royal Palace Landscapes in Romania, Eco- tourism in Hungary, as well as design and construction of garden festivals and TV garden and interior design series. Between 2007 – 2013, Bill was course leader for BA Landscape Architecture; Has course led MA Landscape Architecture and has held the role of Subject leader for Art courses (2012-15) and Design courses (2012-15)

Teaching & Research

Teaching

Bill is passionate about teaching Landscape Architecture and brings well-practiced skills and a wealth of knowledge relating to historic and new concept gardens, landscape planning and urban landscape spaces. Applied sustainability, construction, and planting design within domestic and public realm landscapes. Bill advocates active and reflective learning methods.

In 2013 Student led teaching awards, he was awarded Most Outstanding Lecturer.
