David has performed as a musical director or accompanist across the world, and continues to work professionally, bringing that experience (and those contacts!) to the university.

Biography

David has performed as a musical director or accompanist across the world, and continues to work professionally, bringing that experience to the university. He has performed at Carnegie Hall (New York) and Sydney Opera House, accompanied Bryn Terfel and Katherine Jenkins and conducted Hayley Westenra. He has conducted massed choirs, and even helped give the Welsh rugby team a singing lesson. David has also co-written five musicals, and musically directed countless shows.

David’s research work is primarily in the area of singing, health and wellbeing, exploring the connections between choral singing and good health.

External responsibilities

David continues to work professionally outside the university, as a musical director, accompanist, composer, arranger and orchestrator.
