Dr Charlie Parker

Senior Lecturer in Social Sciences

Telephone:
My research interests focus around social identities. As a qualitative researcher, my sociological interests have led me to researching transnational island communities and military communities, as well as paid carers in institutional settings.

Biography

My PhD in Sociology was an investigation of Britishness, citizenship and transnationalism on the island of St Helena, a British Overseas Territory. My research interests also include masculinity and mobility within the British armed forces, as well as the emotional labour of carers working within institutional settings.
